As excited as we get for summer fashion, there is something even more exciting about Back to School shopping. Since the ladies here at Capital Area Women’s LifeStyle Magazine had to officially give that up years ago, we look to our little ones for an excuse to hit the stores this time of year. Here is what two of the CAWLM moms are dressing their little ones in this fall.
A Funky Fit
Mom: Jaime Hardesty
Grace is entering the fifth grade this year and likes to be fun and funky with her clothes while still being somewhat trendy. She tends to mostly wear leggings because they fit her slim figure best. These zebra print leggings were an absolute must — she is all about zebra print right now and they had just the right touch of that “funk” she is always looking for. From there, she chose two shirts to match, sticking to the color-blocking trend.
Yellow top on sale for $5.99, Orange top on sale for $5.39 and leggings on sale for $9.99. All available at Kohl’s.
Clothes with Character
Mom: Jaime Hardesty
Zakery is a typical 4-year-old boy. He loves to play and get dirty and, like most boys his age, is very into the Cars movies. He loves wearing clothes that have pictures of his favorite characters on them, so this shirt was a hit. His pants are comfy and easy to pull on with an elastic waist.
Shirt, on sale for $16.50, available at Kohl’s. Pants, $5.99 available at Meijer.
Mint and a Maxi
Emma Grace Hodges
Mom: Jennifer Hodges
Going into her second year of middle school, Emma’s look has started to take on a bit more of a mature vibe. That said, she is still young, so being sure to stock her closet with fun patterns and touches of sparkle are a must. This look does both by allowing her to take a fun pattern and dress it up a bit with an eternity scarf and the color of the moment — mint!
Printed maxi skirt, $42.90; Cami, $13.90; Eternity scarf, $13.90; Sequin bag, last season, all available at Justice. Sandals by Mossimo, $22.99, available at Target. Alex and Ani bracelets, $28 each, available at Azzi Jewelers.
