The Hunger Games: Catching Fire finds the beloved Katniss and Peeta shortly after winning the Hunger Games together and being the only survivor couple. The capital wants to push their love angle to cover up the defiance of the capital at the end of the last games. And after some botched visits to the other districts, they change the rules and send the “victors’” into the arena. All the victors chosen are angry about this decision and try to get them to cancel, but there’s no stopping the Hunger Games. And as things start in the games, the revolution begins outside in the districts. It’s hard to judge this movie on its own because it’s so close to the first movie. On its own, I feel like it could have amped up the suspense by showing the ending instead of just telling what happened. It started a little slow but built up very well to the games, but I felt it fell short on the ending. It is probably because they need to keep some things for the third movie, so I feel like it’s not a complete movie so it gets a pass. Overall, if you’re a fan of the Hunger Games you’ve probably already seen it but if you’re like me and just liked the first movie, it’s a solid sequel to lead up to the finale and I recommend seeing it. I can’t wait to see all of the movies together to get the full story.
