This month I challenged a couple of ladies here at Capital Area Women’s LifeStyle Magazine — including myself — to find pieces in our own closets that make us feel beautiful. Something that each and every time we wear it, we feel fabulous. And since clothing can’t do all the work, I also wanted us to showcase accessories — including one beauty product — that help us pull the entire package , that is our beautiful selves, together. Here’s what we came up with. Marilyn Hamlin – Account Executive Blue green makes me think of Michigan’s biggest and best attractions — the Great Lakes. I can picture wearing this textured peasant top with black capris or Bermuda shorts sitting at a cafe overlooking one of the Great lakes with someone special. To finish off the look add a bracelet, earrings and even a comfy pair of flip flops with the same blue green combination. My go to product to keep my skin clean, soft and smooth is my Mia Clarisonic. It cleans better than the tradition cleansers and washcloth. The Mia Clarisonic is the perfect size for traveling. You can even use it in the shower! It retails for around $119. Pheasant top by Croft & Barrow, $19.99; black capris by Daisy Fuentes (bought last season); bracelet; $12.99; earrings, $12; wedge flip-flops by Sonoma, $13.99 all purchased on sale at Kohls. Emily Caswell – Managing Editor There is nothing like a floral print dress with ruffle details to make you feel beautiful. I like how the colors on this piece are not so obviously spring or summer. Paired with a delicate clutch, shoes with a touch of hardware and a sweater for those cooler spring evenings, this is my go-to spring look. My new favorite beauty product is something I just discovered, B.B. (Beauty Balm) cream. This particular one is by Garnier and includes SPF and a touch of tint so my skin tone is perfectly creamy before I even get to my foundation powder. There are tons of B.B. creams out there so, find the one that is right for you. This one retails for around $9. Dress by Gap, bought on clearance for $13; sweater also by Gap, $40; shoes, consignment bought on trade; clutch a hand-me-up from my younger sister; necklace, recycled jewelry piece bought at the Rustbelt Market in Ferndale. Lisa Twenter – Art Director Nothing makes me feel more beautiful than a sundress. Whether patterned, solid, silky or cotton — sundresses are a staple for my spring and summer wardrobe. I paired my floral American Eagle sundress — cinched at the waist with a fuchsiacolored belt — with a pair of b.o.c. flats. Staying in the vein of what makes me feel beautiful, a staple of my daily beauty regimen are natural cheek stains by Tarte. These oversizedchapstick- looking wonders come in a variety of flattering shades and can add a naturally flushed look to your cheeks, lips and eyes. Available at Sephora, $30. Dress by American Eagle, $39.50; shoes from b.o.c., $80; belt from Forever 21, $3.50.
