As the days grow longer we here at Capital Area Women’s LifeStyle Magazine can’t help but feel that spring is just around the corner. It is, right? With that thought in mind three CAWLM staff members took a look in our closets and picked out the spring outfit we just can’t wait to wear again. In addition, we each grabbed a beauty product that has gathered dust this winter and will see the light again in the coming weeks. What can’t you wait to wear again? Let us know on Twitter @cawlm #cannotwaittowear Enjoy and think spring!
Pretty in Polka
I picked up this bright yellow skirt on clearance three seasons ago and it still reigns supreme in my closet. I like pairing it with an equally fun sweater and use a plain white blouse and brown wedges as my basics. And what’s a fun, spring outfit without a fun, spring accessory? I love this necklace. And as much as I love the rich colors fall and winter allow when it comes to nail polish, when I received this pale pink Essie nail polish as a party favor from a recent baby shower I attended, I realized how excited I am to give my nails a more subtle look come spring!
Skirt by New York & Co., $17 on clearance; Sweater by Liz Claiborne, gift; Blouse by Gap, $13 on clearance; Wedges from Payless $15, on clearance; Neckalce, $15 from Macy’s.
After months of neutrals and plaids, I can’t wait to add a little girly prep to my step come spring with my colorful ‘Lilly’ tunic. It goes with just about every pair of pants in my closet, but I like the way these white jeans separate the colors in the tunic from the pop of color in my green heels. I like accessorizing to be easy, so dressing up my ears with overstated sparkle is a quick way to complete the outfit. The earrings, however, don’t quite make up for my lackluster winter skin so my beauty product go-to is always Victoria’s Secret Shimmer Lotion With Tint.
Thandie Tunic by Lilly Pulitzer, $138; Cropped Matchstick Jean by J.crew, $98; Heels by Nine West, $?; Earrings by ?, $?; Tan Enhance Shimmer Lotion With Tint by Victoria’s Secret, $12.
Spring in Stripes
The best thing about breaking out the spring wardrobe is that you can due away with all those layers and stick with one signature piece. I absolutely love how colorful this dress is; it truly announces, “Spring is here.” The white wedges are perfect because they don’t compete for attention and the little pink belt cinches in the waist without fighting with the dress. But this look wouldn’t be complete without a touch of color and a ton of moisture for your lips.
Dress from Yonkers, $60 (with belt); Shoes from DSW, $40; Burt’s Bees Tinted Chapstick, $6 at most drugstores.
