Mother of the Bride

We’ve heard from a few Mothers of the Brides lately and it seems like jewel tones are the overwhelming choice when it comes to what they’re wearing on their daughter’s big day. This dress with coordinating blazer fits the bill. Play up the touch of sparkle by piling on the gold accessories. Suit by Dana Kay, $109; shoes by Michael Antonio, $69.99; earrings, $25; bag, $25

Special Guest

Subtle is almost always the way to go when attending a wedding. This dress caught our eye the moment we walked into My Sistas. Classy, with a touch of character thanks to the roses and variety of fabrics, it’s one of those shapes that looks good on almost everyone. Black accessories play up on your knowledge of trends (after all black and navy are the new black and white). Dress by Insight, $165; shoes by Janice, $49.99; bag, $24.99; necklace, $40 and earrings, $35 both made by owner Tina Robinson

Now we realize as a bridesmaid you don’t always get a say in what you wear on someone else’s big day. But if you do get a say, maybe you could suggest this pretty in pink number with flowing, feather-like details. Accessorize with bright silver pieces that really stand out against the pink.
