Local Women: Constance Timmer
After 19 years in the travel business and the opportunity to travel the world, Constance Timmer went back to pursuing her life-long passion for art. Since she was young, Timmer has spent her summers in upper Michigan and has always found inspiration from the nature around her. She said, “I started to paint when I was very young with water colors and coloring books, and I guess that’s where it all started.” Timmer first began her career in art after studying at the Art Institute of Chicago and taking night courses at Michigan State University. She later opened Partners Gallery with a focus on only featuring Michigan artists. Timmer said, “When I had the art gallery I loved placing art into different businesses and I loved working with the artists.” Timmer enjoyed working with the artists in her gallery so much that she began painting again for herself. Her work is now featured in galleries across the state including the Tree Line Gallery in Sutton Bay, the Stafford Gallery in Petoskey and the Round Lake Gallery in Charlevoix. The mother of three and grandmother of seven said, “Art has been my passion for a long, long time, and I’m so incredibly lucky.”
