Oh how I love holidays … I love spending time with my family, baking yummy treats and decorating the house for the season of joy. In our household I am in charge of all the decorating inside and my husband tackles the outside, stringing lights galore. My little one is, of course, the director of both inside and out. With all the hustle and bustle this holiday season below are instructions for a DIY holiday mantle that can be completed in under an hour. With the fire crackling and snow falling, I am in the mood for my decorations to have a warm and cozy feel. I am excited to decorate my mantle this year with natural elements. Supplies and How-to: Mason jars Cranberries Fishing line (or thick thread) Large sewing needle Your favorite holiday ribbon Twigs (I used twigs from a crooked willow) Balsam fir branches Gold spray paint Frosting spray paint 15 MIN: Frost the mason jars using the frosted glass spray. You may want to put two to three coats (this will dry in 10-15 minutes). 5 MIN: Spray-paint the twigs. I used gold, although silver can resemble glistening snow and ice. 20 MIN: String cranberries on the fishing line. You may want to measure your mantle to ensure you string enough berries. The fruit will last a few days, however, you can spray shellac on the berries and keep them for years. 5 MIN: Tie ribbon around the top of the jars. 10 MIN: When everything is dry, place greenery on the mantle and place the painted twigs throughout. Space the frosted mason jars evenly and drape the cranberries throughout the greenery, twigs and jars. FINISH! Place a tea light in each jar, light and enjoy. I wish you a wonderful holiday season doing the things you love, along with our DIY Quick Craft! [nggallery id=202]
