Common Ground Announces More Acts Two-time Grammy winner and “NCIS: LA” star, LL Cool J has joined the line up at this year’s Common Ground Music Festival set for July 11-17. Best known for hits such as “Around the Way Girl,” “Mama Said Knock You Out,” “Doin It,” and “Goin Back to Cali,” LL also devotes time to a clothing line, a musician-supportive social media network and promotions for his New York Times best-selling fitness book. Coffee And Friends Places Second in Barista Competition On May 19, Coffee And Friends Café was proud to be part of the barista competition “MoTown Throwdown” in Ferndale, Mich., where they won second place with their signature drink the Dutch Treat. Not only did the staff win bragging rights for the next year but they also won a $100 giftcard. The Dutch Treat was created by in-house barista Loren Keeney for two of his regular customers, Jim and Lyn. After several weeks of testing, trying and a little mad science, the Dutch Treat was created and then named after Jim and Lyn’s beloved dog Dutch. Michigan State University Federal Credit Union’s (MSUFCU) Esteemed Board Members Retire and Welcome Elected Members MSU Federal Credit Union’s board of directors congratulated new retirees Nancy Craig, Treasurer, and Ralph Hepp, Ph.D., Director, and welcomed Susan Carter, J.D., and Cheryl Speier, Ph.D., this spring. Craig served MSUFCU’s volunteer board of directors for 31 years and Hepp served for 24 years. Carter is a professor of journalism, communication and law in the College of Communication Arts and Sciences at MSU. She has previously served as a secretary of the board of trustees and a special consultant and executive assistant to the president at MSU. Carter was inducted into the Michigan Journalism Hall of Fame in 2007. Speier is a professor of information systems and the former Associate Dean for MBA and MS Programs at the Eli Broad Graduate School of Management at MSU. The National Science Foundation and the Department of Homeland Security have recognized her research teams with funding, and she is also a Senior Editor, and occasional writer, for Decision Sciences, Associate Editor at MIS Quarterly, and IEEE journals.
