Spring into Personal Style

Nude pumps, white lace tops or sailor-inspired looks; whatever spring trend you’re craving, Capital Area Women’s LifeStyle Magazine encourages you to embrace your personal style this spring. In keeping with this theme, a few of the women involved in the production of CAWLM figured that if we were going to tell readers to embrace their personal style this spring that we should do the same — plus we’ll take any excuse to shop. Below you’ll see what our publisher Tiffany Dowling, our managing editor Emily Caswell and our production director Julie Becker have recently purchased to spruce up their wardrobes for spring.

Those who know me know I love pink, so when spring finally arrives I am more than ready to add a little bit of it back into my wardrobe. This pink, cropped jacket is the perfect way to brighten up for warmer weather. I fell in love with this white eyelet skirt, too. It’s breezy and cool and is a great way to lighten up my look. I can’t wait to pair these items with a playful set of heels (of which I have many to choose from!) and the right accessories. Blazer by Dots, $18; Tank, from my closet; skirt by CAbi, $98; heels by Qupid, $29, available at Charlotte Russe; necklace under $15 available at Kohl’s.

Pair a khaki blazer with a bold floral blouse for this work-to-weekend look. This season, I’m loving jeans with a medium wash. Add a pair of fun floral sling-back pumps in a neutral shade — perfect for the office or a night on the town. Silk blouse, $42.95, and blazer, $69.96, both by Lane Bryant; Jeans by Relativity, $44, and peep-toe pumps by Bandolino, $69.95, both available at Younkers.

Usually a slave to dresses (they are so easy), this spring I wanted to challenge myself to find the perfect skirt and top combination. I fell in love with this skirt thanks to its detailed waistline. Since I don’t have many polka dots in my closet, I went for this tee. Then to toughen up the look, I paired it with some totally awesome shoes and gold accessories. Oh and you’ll notice by the prices listed below, a major part of my personal style is affordable fashion. Top, $14.50, and skirt, $26.49 both available at Old Navy. Necklace, gift from brother. Bracelet, $10 from Fashion Bug. Shoes by Fioni, $29.99, available at Payless Shoes.
