The Business of Casual Dressing

Each year when our She Means Business issue comes out, we here at Capital Area Women’s LifeStyle Magazine gather a selection of classic business attire. This year, however, we got thinking. There are plenty of women who mean business and don’t wear suits. In fact, some mean business in the athletic world and some mean business all while wearing casual wear. For a few selections of out-of-the-box business attire, we turned to our friends at Playmakers. Here is what they came up with. Running the Show Those working (or playing) in the athletic world can look the part thanks to this colorful and fun combo. Shirt by North Face, $45; shorts by North Face, $38; shoes by New Balance, $110; available at Playmakers. Pulled Together in Punch Topped off with a scarf and our personal favorite Tom’s shoe (the wedge), this look is cute, bright and professional for the working gal on the go. Dress by Lole Lorella, $60; tights by Adventura, $32; shoes by Tom’s, $69; scarf by Lole, $40; bag by Haiku, $49, all available at Playmakers. Business in Blue Cobalt blue is one of the hottest colors for fall, so we’d be remiss if we didn’t include in the September fashion feature. Here, pops of cobalt are used to brighten up this clean, casual look. Pants by Prana Halle, $75; tee by Horny Toad, $52; fleece by North Face, $149; shoes by Tom’s, $79; bag by Haiku, $67, all available at Playmakers.
