The Girls Guide to Giltz and Gambling
At the Fly Lansing Travel Concierge, we help people plan all sorts of vacations. But if I can admit to a personal favorite, it’s the girls getaway. And, ladies, right now is the perfect time for a getaway because the glitz, gambling and thrills of Las Vegas are calling.
Just ask Lansing optometrist Dr. Krystal Kempf.
“I can’t wait to go back,” said Krystal, who just returned from celebrating mutual 30th birthday parties with childhood pals Andrea Miller of Grand Ledge and Kassandra Shannon of St. Johns.
“I still have a long list of things to do in Vegas, but we just ran out of time,” Krystal said.
She told me they saw Hoover Dam from the spectacular setting of Lake Mead. Then tried their luck at Binion’s Gambling Hall in Old Town Las Vegas. But gambling and stunning scenery weren’t the only priorities.
They also went for a variety of thrills, like SkyJump Las Vegas, a controlled yet scream-inducing free fall that sent Krystal plunging off the 108th floor of the Stratosphere Hotel & Resort tower. Andrea blasted machine guns at the Tropicana Avenue’s famous Gun Store, heralded by CNN as a Top 10 Classic American Experience. Kassandra, on the other hand, delighted in savoring the steak au frites at the Paris Hotel’s Mon Ami Gabi bistro.
“It was a great getaway,” Krystal said. “And there’s so much to do that we’re already planning on our next girls weekend!”
