Recipe of the Month: Sour Cream Kuchen

  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups white flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
Topping
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream margarine and sugar until smooth with electric mixer or by- -hand with large spoon in large bowl. Add eggs, vanilla extract, flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sour cream. Mix well. Combine the topping ingredients in a separate bowl. Pour 1/2 of the batter into an ungreased 13 x 9 x 2 inch pan. Cover with 1/2 of the topping mixture. Add remaining batter and cover with remaining topping. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in the middle comes out clean. Let cool about 15 minutes.
