My Community: The Apple Butter Festival

The 38th annual Apple Butter Festival was held Oct. 15–16 at the Fenner Nature Center in Lansing. Local residents gathered for the opportunity to travel back in time to the Pioneer days, reconnect with nature and learn how to make homemade apple butter over an open fire. Visitors celebrated the fall harvest through heritage arts and crafts, historical games, live folk music, authentic Native American food, pumpkin carving, face painting and henna tattooing.
