Capital City Film Fest Shines for 6th Year in a Row

This past weekend the Capital City Film Festival celebrated it’s sixth year of success, featuring local, national and international works at different venues in the Lansing Metro area.

The festival is a celebration of artists of all different mediums, with game developers, actors, directors and musicians all coming together to showcase their skills for a four day span. This year featured more acts and films than ever before, a sign that the festival is continuing to grow in popularity.

Ranging from local acts to internationally known works, the CCFF had something for everyone. The Adderall Diaries (directed by Pamela Romanowsky and starring James Franco) was a highlight of the festival, drawing a large crowd and receiving plenty of positive feedback from the audience.

Other notable mentions of the weekend included:

  • Here Come the Videofreex
    • A documentary focused around a group of journalists called the “Videofreex” that was formed in the 60s and 70s who revolutionized the media world by using the first handheld cameras to report and record the world around them.

  • Embers
    • A film featuring five different storylines cleverly connected, Embers is set in a world that has suffered a neurological epidemic causing everyone to lose their memory. Those who survived must figure out how to survive with each other, making new connections along the way.

  • Fortnight Film & Game Contest
    • A contest featuring short films and video games, with $5,000 in total prizes for the top three winners, along with the audience choice award (determined by decibel meter from the audience). The teams participating in the film contest had only two weeks to shoot, edit and submit their film to a panel of judges who decided the top 12 entries (selected to be screened for audience viewing) and the prizewinners.
      • The top 12 list included the following films:
        • Aquaman
        • Aurora
        • Behind You
        • Cameo
        • Disorder
        • A Shred of Evidence
        • Fix My Spouse
        • Irrelevance
