April was national Child Abuse Prevention Month, but shouldn’t that be the case every month?
As a voice for Michigan’s children and families, The Children’s Trust Fund is the only statewide, independent, non-profit organization in Michigan dedicated to the prevention of child abuse and neglect.
The Children’s Trust fund is funded by interest income from the trust fund, direct donations and grants, earned income, income tax check-off and sales from the specialty license plate. Another significant annual event helps create funds to light the way for Children.
The annual Pam Posthumous Signature Auction Event is Wednesday, May 15 at the Breslin Center on the campus of Michigan State University (MSU) and offers music, cocktails, conversation, hors d’oeuvres and spectacular items up for bid. The $150 tickets are available online at michigan.gov/ctfsignature.
Last year about 650 people attended the event at the Breslin Center, where they bid on items such as a chance to experience Elton John in Dublin, Ireland, along with trips to Barcelona, Spain; Jackson Hole, Wyoming; and Disney World in Orlando, Florida; concert tickets for Miranda Lambert and Little Big Town, Kenny Chesney and Kesha; and suites for MSU football and Detroit Tigers, Lions and Red Wings games.
This year look for a suite at the Van Andel Arena for the All-American Road Show Tour with Chris Stapleton, a Detroit Tigers suite package, freshwater fishing in Canada, and a stay in Belize, just to name a few. Silent auction bidding will open online on Wednesday, May 8.
The Children’s Trust Fund offers the public a chance to get involved with the evening outside of becoming a bidder. There are sponsorship opportunities and chances to donate or underwrite an auction item. The public can also offer to volunteer at the event, as well as purchasing or selling tickets.
