The city of East Lansing’s 2019 Community Photo Contest is a chance for shutterbugs to show off both their photography skills and the things they enjoy about the area.

The annual contest has been launched with a submission deadline of midnight Oct. 13, which gives photo enthusiasts plenty of time to scour the area for the perfect shot – our go through their hard drives for images they’ve taken in East Lansing for any of the past four seasons.

Entries can include up to five photos taken in the area and should not be significantly edited. Participants do not have to be a resident of East Lansing; however, all photos must be taken in East Lansing and should be fairly recent.

Sponsors of this year’s contest include Meijer, the East Lansing Downtown Management Board and the East Lansing Farmers Market.

Winners will enjoy Meijer gift cards in various amounts for first through third place and honorable mentions.

In the downtown category, a $100 downtown East Lansing parking voucher will be awarded. In the East Lansing Farmers Market Category, a famers market gift card, market bag and T-shirt will be awarded.

“We encourage community members of all ages and abilities to show off their photography skills while also showing what they love about the East Lansing community,” said Communications Specialist Quinn Alexander. “We are really looking forward to seeing what participants capture during this year’s photo contest.”

Along with the prizes, winning photos are featured in city of East Lansing marketing materials, both online and in print.

Photos can be submitted online at cityofeastlansing.com/photocontest.
