As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. In East Lansing, an annual photography contest confirms a picture may be worth a little more than that.
The city of East Lansing invites members of the community to show off their photographic talents with its 2018 photo contest. The contest is sponsored by Meijer, the East Lansing Downtown Management Board and the East Lansing Downtown Development Authority.
Participants can submit their best photos of downtown East Lansing to win:
First Place– $100 Meijer gift card
Second Place– $75 Meijer gift card
Third Place– $25 Meijer gift card
Downtown Category* – $50 downtown East Lansing parking voucher
Honorable Mention Photos(10 total) – $10 downtown East Lansing parking vouchers
In addition to the prizes, the city of East Lansing will also feature the winning photos in marketing materials, both online and in print.
“This a great opportunity for community members of all ages and abilities to show off their skills at photography, while also showing us what they love about the East Lansing community,” said Communications Coordinator Mikell Frey. “We receive so many beautiful community photos each year and are really looking forward to seeing this year’s submissions.
Those who submit photos using models will be required to sign model release forms, and all contestants must submit a signed entry. Photos should be high resolution with only limited edits. Participants don’t have to be from East Lansing; however, all photos should be taken in East Lansing. Recent photos are preferred. The contest deadline is midnight Sunday, Oct. 14. Participants can submit up to five photos.
All ages are eligible to compete. Photos can be submitted online at cityofeastlansing.com/photocontest.
