There were 97 incidents involving guns in schools in the U.S. during 2018.

Think about that number.

97.

We get chills thinking about it.

Rivers Security Specialists Inc., owned and operated by Ernie Rivers in Owosso, has been looking to make a difference for children and schools in Michigan. Physical security products are an important piece of the puzzle to school safety and security. With more school intruder issues occurring as well as incidents in churches, synagogues and businesses, Rivers Security Specialists looks to have high impact with an important security issue facing the United States: the safety of our children in our schools.

Security film was installed in Frankenmuth School District. The security film has a thickness of 8 millimeters, which will benefit the schools by increasing the integrity of the glass. The film is a product school districts are using in a new way to create a safer environment for their students.

Owosso Public Schools installed a new product called Hammerglass, which is 300 times stronger than conventional glass. The ultrapure polycarbonate has silicon oxide glazing fused onto both sides using nanotechnology, making it virtually unbreakable. The focus is to prevent access to intruders. The product has applications in many different industries and can even be thermoformed. More information is available at riverssecurityspecialists.com.
