The Michigan Education Trust (MET) has announced it will award a total of $30,000 to 10 families this year through its sweepstakes: How We MET.

More than 96 percent of high school graduates with MET contracts have attended a college or university. MET is marking its 30th anniversary as the nation’s first prepaid tuition plan. Each month until September, the organization will randomly award $3,000 pay-as-you-go, prepaid-tuition contracts to entrants. In recognition of National Collage Savings Month, MET will also draw two winners on Sept. 18, announcing them no later than Sept. 21.

“We’re proud that we’ve been able to help Michigan families reach their college-savings goals for 30 years,” said MET executive director Robin Lott. “Our How We MET Sweepstakes are a fun way to celebrate that longevity, while also putting other families on the road to achieving their higher education dreams.”

The pay-as-you-go option will allow purchasers to buy prepaid tuition in credit hour increments rather than on a semester basis, which would require a greater upfront investment. Contract holders can buy additional prepaid tuition with contributions as little as $25.00. MET also sells contracts through monthly purchase plans and lump sums.

MET plans a variety of anniversary activities under the sweepstakes’ banner through the course of the year. The theme will highlight the higher education journey that thousands of families and students have taken during the past 30 years with MET’s assistance.

The sweepstakes are open to Michigan residents 18 years of age and older who will have children no older than 17 as of Sept. 30; residents can enter at MET4College.com. For more information on MET, visit SETwithMET.com or call 800-MET-4-KID.
