Subscription Boxes – The New Trend in Beauty


It seems that subscription boxes are the latest trend in, well… everything. Box subscriptions are offered for nearly any aspect of your life, from meals, to fashion, to snacks. We love the idea of products arriving on our doorstep in the mail, but considering the extensive amounts of box options, we want to tackle each area that a box can benefit, and this week, we’re looking at beauty boxes. If you are looking to buy a box for as a gift or yourself here are some things to consider!


For $10 a month, Ipsy sends you a combination of five full sized and sample sized makeup/beauty products, a mix of high-end toimages[10] drugstore brands. All products come in a makeup bag so they are ready to go when you get them. Each box is personalized to each person’s individual needs as well.

Pros: You get a free make up bag each month, affordably priced and personalized products.

Cons: The waitlist and requiring to share on social media.


This box is catered specifically towards women of color. They send five to eight beauty and cocotique-beauty-box-for-women-of-color-5[1]hair products each month in a mix of sizes. They also have limited edition boxes and brand takeovers. It is $20 a month for a subscription.

Pros: Often offer discount codes for full sized products, personalized for the box’s clientele, and affordable pricing.

Cons: Yearlong and six month long subscriptions cannot be cancelled.

Vegan Cuts Beauty Box

For $19.95 a month you will receive 4-7 products that are vegan and natural in each box. They usually include one or two full sized novsnackbox-1-1024x1024[1]products!

Pros: Free shipping in the United States, full sized products are included, and reasonably priced.

Cons: They do not customize for skin tone or skin type.




This is one of the most popular beauty box subscriptions. It is $10 Birchbox_Subscription_W_10.0[1]a month and you receive five beauty samples. Oh, and if you review each box you will receive $5 to spend in the Birchbox shop.

Pro: You can earn money toward future purchases, monthly and yearly subscriptions are available, they offer men’s and women’s products and it’s affordable.

Con: You don’t receive many full size or travel size items.
