The Wharton Center for Performing Arts (Wharton Center) has announced its 2018-2019 season, including the highly anticipated, smash hit Broadway musical, “Hamilton.” The performing arts series also includes a host of Tony Award-winning Broadway shows. “It’s another incredible season matched with many opportunities to engage and connect with artists in the community,” said Executive Director Mike Brand at the Wharton Center.
The upcoming MSU Federal Credit Union Broadway at Wharton Center season will feature the premiere engagement of “Hamilton,” which starts May 14 and will play for three weeks on the Cobb Great Hall’s stage. The renowned show has been touted as one of the most successful of its kind.
Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “School of Rock – The Musical,” and Phantom of the Opera’s sequel, “Love Never Dies,” are also on the list of popular shows booked for the season. Rounding out the series are “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Anastasia” and “Miss Saigon.”
The series will also include over two dozen of the top dance, jazz, classical and children’s shows on tour. Celebrated soprano Renee Fleming returns, as well as Jessica Lang Dance. Steve Martin and Martin Short appear with “An Evening You Will Never Forget for the Rest of your Life.” The Act One Family Series will bring “The Magic School Bus Lost in the Solar System,” “The One and Only Ivan,” and “Junie B. Jones.”
“The best way to experience it all is by becoming a season subscriber,” said Brand. “You’ll be able to reserve up to six seats to Hamilton before it goes on sale to the general public.” Subscribers also will receive benefits that include special offers throughout the season and incentives, including discounts at local retailers and restaurants.
